About Neville Thompson
Born in Northern Ireland and educated in the province, I graduated from the Queen's University of Belfast Medical School in 1996. After completing my pre-registration house officer year, I commenced my surgical career and completed my basic surgical training on the Belfast rotation in 2000. I then commenced my higher surgical training in Trauma & Orthopaedics in 2001 after successfully obtaining a National Training Number within the Northern Ireland deanery.
As part of my training, I completed a full-time research post based at Musgrave Park Hospital and was awarded the degree of Master of Philosophy by the Queen's University of Belfast in 2004.
Towards the end of my higher surgical training, I successfully passed the Intercollegiate exam in Trauma & Orthopaedics in 2005 becoming a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh [FRCS (Tr&Orth)].
I spent 12 months as an Upper Limb Fellow at Wrightington Hospital, Wigan gaining a wealth of experience in all aspects of hand, wrist, elbow and shoulder surgery.
I am a member of the 'British Elbow and Shoulder Surgery Society' and an associate member of the 'British Society for Surgery of the Hand'.
